Tiger wins his own Golf Tournement

Tiger Woods

Tiger Woods has won the AT&T National at Congressional.

Tiger Woods who was the host of the tournement has won by defeating Anthony Kim and Hunter Mahan.

Woods and Kim were tied for the lead heading into the final round at -10 and would be paired together for the very first time at Congressional Country Club.

But, Before Kim and Woods would tee off, Hunter Mahan had begun his charge for the lead playing a very solid round of golf which meant he would finish with a score of 62 to complete the tournement at -12 which Kim and Tiger would have to beat.

Kim started with a birdie but made 2 bogeys to finish his final round with a score of 71 to finish at -9 meaning he would be third at the tournement he won last year.

Woods meanwhile only made one bogey on his round along with 4 birdies to finish at 13 under par and beat Mahan by one stroke.

Woods said earlier in the tournement that he wanted “to be a greedy host” and win his own tournement and done so today.

Kim may have been victim to the aura of Tiger but it can only help to improve his game and maybe one day we will be calling Anthony Kim the world number 1.

On the European Tour,  Martin Kaymer and Lee Westwood would finish tied for the top spot meaning they would have to decide the winner by a playoff.

Both hit their drives into the rough on the 470 yard par four, but on the second shot Westwood would find the water, after his chip from the drop zone he left himself with a 30 foot putt for bogey which he slid right, leaving his 24 year old opponent two putts for the title, of which he only needed one.

Kaymer wins €666,660 and gets himself back into the top 20 of the world rankings.

And on the LPGA Tour Eunjung Yi has defeated Morgan Pressel at a playoff for the Corning Classic.

Anthony Kim sets the pace.

Anthony Kim

Anthony Kim leads the AT&T National Golf Tournement.

Kim set the course record with an 8-under 62 for a two-shot lead over AT&T National host Tiger Woods an 2 others.

The 24-year-old has not won since his victory here at Congressional Country Club last year, as he was slowed by an assortment of injuries that caused his game to slip just as he was being anointed as the next great American player.

It was the best round of his PGA Tour career, although Kim walked off the par-5 ninth green slightly perturbed after narrowly missing a 10-foot birdie putt. Apparently, eight birdies wasn’t enough.

Anthony Kim has set the pace early and looks to be in contention to retain his title, but there is still 3 more rounds to play.
